Mary E Brensdal

August 30, 1934 ~ July 14, 2021 (age 86)

Mary Elizabeth Brensdal of South Beach, Oregon, born August 30, 1934, entered into Heaven on July 14, 2021 after a lengthy illness.  She was raised in Smyrna, Georgia, and was the daughter of Lawrence and Julia Butler.

During her school years, Mary was a popular vocalist who won multiple awards and sang in her church choir. After graduation, she became a secretary and met her first husband, James Badders, the father of her four children, and they lived for many years in Kissimmee, Florida.  In 1964, she married Lyle Brensdal, and the family relocated to Oregon, spending many years in Corvallis before moving to Gig Harbor, Washington where Mary started a successful collectible records shop, Dusty Discs.  After a time, the need to travel for Lyle’s electrician trade became apparent, so they began and enjoyed several nomadic years in a fifth-wheel RV traveling between Colorado, Northern California, Oregon, and Washington before finally settling down in South Beach. Mary was an avid bowler, so no matter where they lived she quickly got involved in the local bowling leagues.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. Her greatest joys were family and friends, her dogs, music, bowling, and flower gardening, especially her roses. She was an infectiously happy person who could light up a room, and she easily made friends everywhere she went.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Reeves, and her parents-in-law Ole and Zilpha Brensdal.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle, who lovingly cared for her until her death; her four children, Yvonne (Greg) Swift, Julie (Mark) Cozzi, Marilyn (Joe) Molburg, and Jim (Pat) Badders; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law Ivonne Brensdal and Cindy Downey.

At a later date, Mary’s family and friends will gather for a celebration of her life. Donations in her memory may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America; PO Box 758593; Topeka, KS 66675-8593. Online at www.PVA.org/SupportVeterans.
