Donna Jean White, 79, of Toledo, passed away May 19, 2021, at home.
Donna was born in Tacoma, Washington, to Bill and Margaret Loomis Baker. At a young age, she lost her father, and was raised by her step father Bill Dacy. Her parents were both realtors, moving the family to residences around Tacoma, and then to Medical Lake, Washington, where she graduated High School. She went to Washington State University, becoming the first woman in her family to earn a Bachelor’s degree. At WSU she met her beloved Shannon, who had stayed an extra year to court her. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Parkland, Washington. Together they raised three children, on a farm near Toledo. Always intrepid, they spent a year, with preschool age Shannon Jr, traveling Europe.
A designer for life, she worked professionally while the family lived in Seaside, Oregon, then switched to calligraphy and framing. Her shop Artisan Frame Gallery, served the Toledo/Newport area for 35 years. She framed, created commissioned calligraphy, and shared her gifts with family and friends.
Donna was a woman of faith, a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, where she served in multiple lay capacities.
Donna loved music, her choir and solo singing, as well as genealogy. She was the keeper of both family stories and heirlooms. Though small in stature, she was a powerhouse of talent and love, keeping friends and family close.
She is survived by her husband, Shannon C White, her children, Shannon Jr, Lorinda, and Megan Callahan, and three grandchildren, Rowen, Mairead, and Colette.
Her parents, step father, sister Judie Baker Dilley, and brother David Baker, preceded her in death.
A small memorial will be held Saturday, May 29th at 2pm at Atonement Lutheran Church in Newport, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Olympics, Oregon.
