Obituary

David James Richcreek
March 1, 1962 - December 25, 2022
David James Richcreek, age 60, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at his home in Newport. He is with the Lord after a hard fought battle with cancer. Dave was born on March 1, 1962 in Crescent City California, to Darold G. Richcreek & Sharon L. (Rutherford) Richcreek. Dave married Angie Rogers on September 12,1992. Dave and Angie welcomed two wonderful sons, Spencer born in 1993 & Luke born in 1996. Dave was a devoted father, husband and friend. Dave was a commercial fisherman which began right after high school graduation and he started his first captain's job at the age of 19. He worked on the F/V Raven for 30+ years, only stopping when he had to due to cancer. He was passionate about his career and the Raven was his "other girl". Dave spent a majority of his life fishing off the Oregon/Washington Coast and Bering Sea. Dave enjoyed the last 5 years of his captain's career working alongside his son, Spencer Richcreek, a deckhand on the F/V Raven. The motto for the F/V Raven is "Faith, Family, Fish" which encompasses what Dave treasured most. Dave was a huge Oregon Ducks fan and held season tickets for 20+ years where he and his sons shared a love for college football. Dave & Angie recently completed building their dream house in Sisters, OR where they spent time hiking, biking, floating the river, and hosting friends and family. Dave loved chatting with people and often said "no ones a stranger, just people I haven't met yet." Dave was an active member of the Nazarene church where he spent many years attending & volunteering his time.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Darold; mother, Sharon; brother, Dirk; & mother-in-law, Deanna. Dave is survived by his wife, Angie; sons, Spencer and Luke; daughter-in-laws, Riley and Makiah; granddaughter, Blake Lou Richcreek; brother and sister-in- law, Donny and Misty Richcreek; sister, Karen; nephew, Max; nieces, Molly, Zoe, Jamie and Linda; and many loving relatives and friends.
