Anthony Dean Boesen, 62 years old. He was born Waterloo, Iowa as the first son to Robert and Betty Boesen. Anthony passed away in an accident while kiteboarding off of South Beach on May 31, 2021 doing what he loved. He was spending time on the Oregon coast with his beloved wife of 12 years, Sherri Jo Boesen and forever companion, Gus.
Anthony has passion for wind and ocean sports. Anthony started the first wind surfing school in Iowa at the age of 18. The summer he graduated as a Civil Engineer from University of Idaho, he spent wind surfing in the Columbia River Gorge. Anthony devoted his career to working for the Federal Highway Administration where he was awarded a Superior Achievement Award. He was assigned to many state capitals while training; he settled in Salem, Oregon. He loved Oregon and it allowed him to enjoy his passions for surfing, wind surfing, kite boarding, kayaking and snowboarding. Life was truly an adventure for Anthony and he lived it to its fullest. In fact, he added scuba diving and traveling to his repertoire when he married his soulmate, Sherri. They truly enjoy adventure, creating memories and making new friends while traveling the world together.
Anthony was raised in a strong Catholic family and was devoted to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty Boesen. Left to cherish his memory are his three siblings, Jerry (Jill) Boesen of Cedar Falls, IA, Mary (Daniel) Kubicek of Excelsior, MN and Bradley (Christine) of Waterloo, IA. He was very proud of his nephews, Aaron and Dana Boesen and nieces Larissa Boesen and Elizabeth Kubicek. He was particularly proud to be a godfather to Elizabeth. He was also survived by his godmother Barbara (Duane) Schaffer and many loving family members.
There isn’t a kinder, smarter or gentler man than Anthony. He had a sharp, whitty mind and an old soul who touched the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. Anthony, you are now truly with the wind you loved so much, God speed.
