Bateman Funeral Home can trace it's roots back to 12/24/1896 when W.A. Fash bought property to start a funeral home in Toledo, Oregon on Hill street. E.F. Gaar became a business partner with Mr. Fash in September of 1897. Flash and Gaar sold the funeral home to Austin Rosebrook February 2, 1900. In November 1912, Mr. Rosebrook sold to OR Hollingsworth who sold the business to Leo and Ethel Bateman on July 17, 1916.  The Bateman family continued to reside on the coast in Lincoln County for many years thereafter. Offering meaningful personal service since 1914, we continue to be a local family owned company providing the most reasonably priced memorials, funeral, cremation and cemetery services for most Oregon coastal and inland communities. We understand that today the cost of most things is important to everyone. That is why our "family owned" philosophy is to provide the best service, facilities and care at the most reasonable price. We serve all Oregon coastal and surrounding communities. 

Our local ownership and management is with Brian Norris, a licensed funeral director, embalmer and celebrant who is active in his community and resides in Newport with his family. Brian's business partner, David Schroeder is also a licensed funeral director and a long-time Oregon Coast native, born and raised in Tillamook County. We are unique in the fact that our local family owned and managed funeral homes and cemeteries operate the only certified “on-site” crematories with certified technicians in Lincoln County. This assures no out of town transport costs and the highest private professional standards available. We also have contacts with other family owned locations serving the greater Portland Metro Area and most northwest coastal areas. Our entire facilities have undergone design reviews with a focus on developing the most unique, modern and pleasant memorial event centers in Lincoln County, while maintaining reasonable prices.

We are family owned and operated. At our funeral home, we have chapel and reception areas for your convenience, as well as a on-site cremation center. We offer Lincoln County's lowest published prices for local funeral and cremation services. Our cremation centers are the only two certified "on-site" cremation centers in Lincoln County. They are located at each of our facilities in Newport and Lincoln City. Other funeral homes are required to transport to a third party crematory operator and have little control over when the cremation takes place or when the ashes are returned to you. We can assure no out of town transport costs and your loved one does not leave our care. Our certified crematory operators assure the highest possible standards right here in your community.
