| Gilbert Morantte was born August 5, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA and passed away on October 15, 2009 in Depoe Bay, OR at the age on 80. Gilbert graduated form Sweet Water High School in National City, CA where he lettered in Tennis. He served his country as CPL (T) in the US Army, and is a Korean War Veteran. Gilbert started a career in the furniture making business and later became a manufacturing representative for an electrical service company for a career that spanned over 28 years. He earned his rank as a Master Mason and served as an assistant scout master for 4 years, out hiking his troupe, two of which were his sons Randy and David. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. His daughter Esther remembers that when dad went out, he would always bring home fresh caught fish for dinner. It was on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1953, when Gilbert Married Betty Ruth Bostwick-Shaw, a loving marriage that lasted 56 years and 8 months until his passing. Gilbert is predeceased by his parents, Frank & Lucia Morantte. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Ruth Morantte; son, Randy James Morantte; son, David Mark Morantte; daughter, Esther Ruth Morantte; 8 grandchildren, Michael A., Joann M., Mark A., Jason M., Kristin M., Nolan R., Daniel J., Connell T.; and his great-grand-daughter, Kilee M. |
