| Mary Lou Geil was born on April 26, 1930 in Forest Grove, OR and passed away on October 11, 2009 at the age of 79 in Newport, OR. Mary Lou graduated from Stayton High School, Stayton, OR in 1948. It was there where she met Ralph Norman Geil who became her high school sweet heart. On November 24, 1949, they were married and have remained married until her passing, just forty-four days short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Mary Lou loved beach combing, gardening, traveling, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball. She has been a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1954. Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Agnes Nielson and her son, Gary Allen Geil. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Norman Geil; son, Russell Norman (Debi) Geil; daughter, Jane (Leland) Jincks; son, James Daniel Geil; brothers, Don Nielson, Tom Nielson, Ed Nielson, and Rodger Nielson; a sister, Nancy Hartmann;12 grandchildren, Sarah Jincks, Amy Jincks-Paranto, Tekla Shive, Jason Geil, Jeff Geil, Shawn Walker, Staci Eddy, Tyler Geil, Jacob Geil, Ashley Geil, Jessica Geil, and Rachel Geil; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 from 1:00PM – 6:00PM at Bateman Funeral Home. Her Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 11:00AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newport, OR. A luncheon will be served in the fellowship Hall immediately following at the church. Mary Lou will be placed at her final resting place at 3:00PM at Eureka Cemetery, Newport, OR. |
