| Helen Link Constable was born December 12, 1917 in Oconto, Wisconsin, and passed away on August 25, 2009 at the age of 91. She graduated from Santa Monica High School, Santa Monica, CA in June 1935. In her younger years, Helen worked as a telephone operator for GTE in Santa Monica, CA. In January 1942 Helen married Gerald Lee Constable in Yuma, Arizona and remained married until his passing in 1997. In 1976 Helen and Gerald made their home in Waldport, OR, and soon thereafter she became known as Waldport's connoisseur of fudge, and received countless requests for the confectionery from Waldport and Newport, whose recipe to this very day remains a guarded secret. In addition to her fudge, Helen was known for her smiles and happy disposition even when she was confined to a wheel chair. A warm, generous, and giving person, Helen was everyone's friend. Helen is survived by her three children, Jeanie Constable of Little Rock, CA, Jay Constable of Riverside, CA and Jeri Constable of Waldport, OR. |
